Story with a Photo- Lights on the Water

This bay is in Berkeley, CA at around 7:30pm when the sun had almost
completely set and the last bits of light were just about to extinguish.
There's a silhouette of the town on some hills across the water and
the dock in the center that extends into the bay. The lights create a gradient
of color that you may not otherwise see and reflected off the bay to show texture in the waves

MSJMCW

I walk out of my quiet classroom toward the buzzing of the horseshoe. It's filled with different alluring scents and fragments of conversations I'll never know the end to. I hand my ticket to the friendly face behind the stand and they trade it for a plate full of fragrant sustenance. As I take my first bite, my mouth is filled with an explosion of flavor that entices the images of fireworks and paintings you may only see in museums, behind my eyelids. I walk around and observe the commotion surrounding each booth and recognize the hard work that goes into this production each year. The blending of different cultures and the acceptance of each of them comes without a thought when there's food involved. Food carries no prejudices and it helps bring people together, that's what multicultural week does, it brings people together.

Shutter Speed and Everything after

Partner: Pavi B.
Photo
1) It has fast shutter speed because it captured the trucks moving on the right without blurring their image. On the highway trucks tend to move pretty quickly so it would be difficult to capture a non blurry photograph of them with a slow shutter speed.
2) My rule of composition:Leading Lines. There are leading lines in the picture that draw your eye further down the highway and you gradually notice more and more in the photo than just the flipped truck.
Pavi's rule: Balancing Elements, there is no main subject that draws all of your attention to the center of the photograph but there is a balance in the photograph because there are subjects on both sides of the pictures, trucks, and a similar background, the greenery.
3)Element of Art: Lines because as I said before there are numerous lines in the picture from the lines that separate the lanes on the highway to the edges of the trucks. There is a railing in the center to separate the sides of the highway that are driving in different directions that forms lines going in multiple directions.
4)Principles of Design: Proportion. There is a difference in sizes of the trucks and other objects within the image that contrast with each other whether the size difference is caused by distance from the photographer or just because of the actual size of the objects.

I'm guessing the shutter speed was about 1/500
